Dental cotton rolls hold saliva away from a working field. Rich Medical supplies the three standard sizes — 8×38 mm for children and anterior work, 10×38 mm as the general size, 12×38 mm for posterior and heavier flow — bundled 50 to a bundle and 20 bundles to a bag.
Three sizes cover most dental practices
The 8×38 mm roll is used in paediatric dentistry and on anterior teeth where a 10 mm roll crowds the field. The 10×38 mm roll is the default in most surgeries and the size most distributors stock deepest. The 12×38 mm roll is for posterior quadrants and for patients with heavy saliva flow, where a thinner roll saturates before the restoration is finished.
Bundle and bag counts
All three sizes are packed 50 pieces per bundle, 20 bundles per bag, 20 bags per carton. That is 20,000 rolls per carton — the reason dental rolls are usually bought on a quarterly rather than weekly cycle. Carton dimensions differ by size: 370×230×370 mm for 8 mm, 560×420×275 mm for 10 mm and 540×350×460 mm for 12 mm.
What makes a roll hold its shape
The cotton is rolled tightly enough that the roll keeps its cylindrical form when the dentist presses it into the sulcus, but open enough to absorb quickly. Loose rolls collapse and have to be replaced mid-procedure; over-compressed rolls absorb slowly and feel hard. Our rolls are checked for diameter and firmness against the sample approved by the customer.
Non-sterile by default, packed for the chair
Dental rolls are supplied non-sterile, which is normal for chair-side use from a clean dispenser. Practices that want them sterile can be quoted on EO-sterilised bundles. Bundles are wrapped so a single bundle can be taken to the chair without opening the bag, and the bag is printed with size and quantity for stock rotation.
Supply for distributors and dental brands
Dental consumable distributors typically carry all three sizes under their own label; we print the bundle wrap and the bag, and can mark cartons with your product code. Certificate of analysis, ISO 13485 certificate and CE/FDA documentation are supplied with each order, and sample bundles of each size are sent together for approval.
