Buying guide
Absorbent cotton accounts for the largest part of what leaves our factory: balls, rolls, pleated zig-zag, dental rolls and eye pads, all from the same bleached supply. Buying the formats together matters, because a distributor that sources balls from one supplier and rolls from another ends up with two whiteness standards, two absorbency claims and two sets of paperwork on the same shelf.
Five formats, one cotton source
Balls from 0.3 g to 10 g for swabbing and wound cleaning; rolls from 25 g to 4,000 g for clinics and hospital stores; pleated zig-zag packs from 5 g to 1,000 g, which is the format most European buyers call cotton wool; dental rolls at 8, 10 and 12 mm; and sterile eye pads in non-woven and gauze. Each format has its own page with the catalogue table for its sizes and carton counts.
Why whiteness and absorbency are quoted together
A cotton can look white and absorb slowly, and it can absorb fast and look grey. The two properties are set by the bleaching and the opening of the fibre, and they are certified in the batch analysis rather than judged by eye. Buyers who compare on price alone usually discover the difference when a wound pack fails to take up fluid, so we quote whiteness and absorbency with the price.
Formats for kit packers
A large share of this line is consumed inside somebody else's pack. If you assemble first aid kits, dressing packs or dialysis kits, we supply cotton counted to your pack specification and bagged with your kit code, which removes a counting station from your line. The same applies to eye pads and dental rolls.
Private label and language
Bags, boxes and cartons can be printed with your artwork, barcode and language, and in the EU the pack also carries the manufacturer address, batch and sterilisation state. We supply a PDF proof and hold the plates for repeat orders so the second shipment looks like the first.
Documentation
Every shipment carries a certificate of analysis; the ISO 13485 certificate and the CE/FDA file are supplied before the order. Samples across two or three formats are usually sent together, because most buyers approve cotton by hand rather than by specification.
