Plastic tweezers are bought by the bag and judged by the tip. Rich Medical supplies ten moulds from 10.8 cm to 18 cm, 250 to 500 pieces per bag and 4 bags per carton, in grades from a light dressing tweezer to a firm 18 cm forceps — plus a carded tick remover for retail sale.
Ten moulds and what they hold
1# at 10.8 cm and 3#, 4#, 15# and 18# at 11.2 to 12.6 cm are the dressing and splinter sizes: fine tips for a single suture or a thorn, with enough spring to be squeezed between thumb and forefinger. 5# at 12.5 cm, 8# at 12 cm, 9# at 13 cm and 10# at 14 cm are the general ward sizes used to lift a swab or a dressing. 6# at 18 cm is the long forceps for reaching into a deep pack or a bottle without putting a hand inside.
Tip alignment is the whole product
Two moulded halves that do not meet at the tip are useless, and this is the defect that shows up first in a cheap tweezer. We check tip closure on a sample from each batch by gripping a single strand of cotton: if the strand pulls free, the batch is rejected. Spring tension is checked by hand against the approved sample so a repeat order feels the same as the first.
Bulk packing and carton counts
Most moulds pack 500 pieces to a bag and 4 bags to a carton; 9#, 10# and 15# pack 250 per bag because the tips are longer and more fragile. Cartons run 460×380×310 mm for the 500-piece moulds and 380×300×320 mm for the 250-piece ones. The 6# forceps packs 1,000 per carton. Because plastic tweezers are light, most orders are cube-limited rather than weight-limited.
Sterile or non-sterile
Non-sterile tweezers are supplied in bulk bags for the trolley, for kits and for industrial use. Where a tweezer enters a sterile field it is packed inside the dressing pack and sterilised with it. Individual EO-sterilised tweezers in a peel pack can be quoted for casualty and first aid use.
The tick remover as a retail item
The 10.9 cm tick remover is supplied either bulk in 500-piece bags or carded, 1 piece per card, 12 cards per box and 12 boxes per carton, with printed card artwork. It is a seasonal retail line in Europe and North America, so most customers order the carded version for pharmacy and pet retail and the bulk version for veterinary and outdoor kits.
